Our Center for Digital Safety & Security is looking for new Ingenious Partner for our location in Vienna. The research field Data Science within the Competence Unit for Data Science & Artificial Intelligence is leading in applied research of highly innovative aspects for scalable Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications as well as data science consulting and solutions for informed decisions based on big, heterogeneous and real-time data under strict IT security and privacy conditions.

Specifically, our Data Science team is conducting innovative research - for each step in a data science workflow that includes the key phases of data aggregation and normalization, data analysis, data visualization, and data publication and preservation. All of these phases build on strong security measures that ensure data privacy, confidentiality and integrity.

DATA SCIENTIST (M/F/D) WITH FOCUS ON BIG GRAPH ANALYTICS

CENTER FOR DIGITAL SAFETY & SECURITY

  • You will guide the design and implementation of research tasks in close cooperation with international stakeholders (public authorities/law enforcement sector).
  • You will investigate technical aspects of financial transaction networks, such as cryptoassets and decentralized finance ecosystems, and develop novel algorithmic methods and tools.
  • You actively use your advanced knowledge of network analysis and machine learning and will work with open-source data science tools such as R, Python and Apache Spark, among others.
  • You will work in close cooperation with the Cryptofinance research group at the Complexity Science Hub (CSH); your work will take place at both AIT and CSH.
  • You will delve deeply into developing novel algorithmic methods and research methodologies to support predictions and informed decision making on large graph datasets.
  • You publish your results in high-value conferences and journals.
  • You will work in a multi-disciplinary team ranging from post-doctoral scientists to students.
  • You conceive and submit research project proposals on the national and international level.
Your qualifications as an Ingenious Partner:
  • PhD in computer science, physics, mathematics, statistics, engineering, or related fields
  • Demonstrated research experience in working with large datasets, network science and machine learning
  • Proven scientific publication and grant acquisition abilities
  • Experience in mentoring or supervising students at the graduate level
  • Technical skills (R, Python, etc.) for conducting research work
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills (English and German)

What to expect:
The minimum gross annual salary on a full-time basis (38,5 h / week) according to the collective agreement is EUR 59.164,-. The actual salary will be determined individually, based on your qualifications and experience.
